Billions of rounds of ammunition

Billions of rounds of ammunition
Lately the Government has been buying up a lot of ammunition. This by itself raises eyebrows of many but a closer look at the facts raises a lot of questions. Center stage for the purchase of ammunition in this story is the department of homeland security. Over the last 10 months they have purchased or made contracts with manufactures to obtain over 1.625 billion rounds of various ammunition.

However they are not the only government agency to buy up large quantities of ammo. The national Weather service has purchased 46,000 rounds of hallow point ammunition. The NWS is tasked with providing forecasts, public warnings, and other products to organizations and the public for the purposes of protection, safety, and general information. Why do they need firearms and all that ammo to do their job?

The Social security administration has ordered 174,000 .357 magnum rounds. When questioned why they needed such an order it was claimed to be a clerical error and the order was for NOAA’s Fisheries office of law enforcement. They are responsible for the ecosystem protection and conservation of most of national marine life.

That’s a lot of ammunition in retro spec a average combat infantry company is composed of three to five platoons to form a company. A platoon consists of 16 to 44 soldiers comprising of four squads. The Military unit I was part of years ago was made up of five platoons to a company, 25 men to a platoon. This made our company 125 men strong. Average ammo we carried into battle varied on our mission. But the average was 3500 per platoon. This averaged out to 17,500 per company. This is not counting grenades, rockets or other forms of munitions, just small arms. So using this figure of 17,500 as a rough guesstimate DHS has purchased enough ammo to outfit almost 10,000 infantry companies. That’s a lot of men and firepower. At the height of operations in Iraq U.S. Soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month. So DHS has purchased enough ammo to wage an Iraq style campaign for 30 years.

So that begs the question of why do they need so much so soon? Is DHS getting ready for war? And if so with who? As more people have asked more probing questions of DHS they responded by classifying information pertaining to ammunition purchases. Why are they so worried about the public knowing how much ammo they are purchasing now that the cat is out of the bag?

Combine this with the fact that a study that was funded by DHS was leaked last year where they characterize Americans who are suspicious of the federal government and are reverent of individual liberty are labeled as right wing terrorists. So In a nutshell they are labeling a lot of Americans as terrorists. DHS mandate is to protect the U.S.A. from terrorism and or responding to terrorist acts. But now they are calling American citizens terrorists for their views. Is this the first step toward thought police?

Draw your own conclusions based on the facts, use some reason and logic. But if you love your freedoms and don’t think they make you a terrorist then speak out. Your silence is their power.

For myself I can say this, this is not the country I grew up in. I want my old nation back where my freedoms and belief in them as unquestionable didn’t make me a terrorist, it made me an American proud of my nation.
