The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

    The current gun legislation going on right now in Washington should have many people in America concerned. These people namely Sen. Dianne Feinstein, Sen. Charles E. Schumer and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton are pushing their own private agenda despite the facts that legal gun ownership reduces crime. A quick look at the statistics provided by the FBI is the clearest sign that responsible gun owners in America are having a positive effect.

In 2005 murders commented with a rifle were 445. In contrast the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs were 605. In 2006 murders commented with a rifle were 438. The number of Murders committed with hammers and clubs went up to 618. As we go on from year to year the number of murders committed by rifles continues to drop and blunt objects like hammers keeps going up. So if the people in Washington were truly concerned about your well being and health don’t you think they would pass laws against hammers and clubs?

Maybe a 5 day waiting period on that hammer you want to get at the hardware store.

    Back to the facts, at the head of this gun legislation is Sen. Dianne Feinstein. She has headed numerous attacks on the second amendment before. Her original gun ban, which existed from 1994 until 2004, was not renewed by Congress after law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, testified it was ineffective in cutting crime. So, the FBI said it doesn’t work and the national statistics support that but they continue to push this agenda.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s new bill would ban 157 specific “assault weapons and ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.” The criteria of the “assault weapons” they propose to ban is the same as the 1994 ban. Clearly Sen. Dian Feinstein hates personal gun ownership in America and is determined to change it regardless of the facts.

    Recently I had a disagreement with a coworker about what the second amendment means. He was certain it had something to do with hunting or a well armed military. When I informed him that the Supreme Court of the United States first ruled in 2008 that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess and carry firearms, he was certain I was wrong. I also explained to him that the Supreme Court issued two landmark decisions officially establishing this interpretation. District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home within many longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession listed by the Court as being consistent with the Second Amendment. In McDonald v. Chicago, 561 U.S. 3025 (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government. After hearing this he told me that I was making this all up and he walked away. This kind of Ignorance is what people like Sen. Dian Feinstein are counting on. They use these crimes like the Sandy Hook shooting to further their agenda and claim it’s about protecting people but when compared to the cold hard facts their arguments fall short.

     Surprisingly a number of Sheriffs and serving military around the country have publicly said if they will not enforce the gun ban if passed into law. This is great news for freedom loving Americans everywhere. Go over to http://oathkeepers.org/oath/ and take a look, it will put a smile on your face. Also some states like Texas are pushing a bill called The Second Amendment Protection Act, that if passed into law will create a precedent for other states to follow.

    While many patriots have said Molon Labe to the people in Washington our true strength is to organize and kill this before it becomes law. Call your congressman and tell them how much you hate gun control. Make a donation to the NRA or Gun Owners of America, after all they are at the forefront of this fight but most of all do not be silent and don’t sit back and let others fight this battle for you. Make some sacrifices and fight for your freedoms, or wear a slave collar and let others manage you from cradle to grave.
